    It's been a while...

Since my last entry.  Just over 3 years, that doesn't seem long until you think about what happens in that time.

    1) I adopted a little boy and wouldn't change it.  (He's now 2 1/2)
    2) I moved over 100 miles to live near my in-laws
    3) I quit my job, only to move to one of the highest unemployed areas in America (didn't know it at the time)
    4) I left the ministry, and am now looking to get back in
    5) We now have the first black president, who may or may not be an American (depends on who you ask)
    6) Glenn Beck made the transition to tv only to change networks (he started in TV)
    7) Star Trek was cancelled only to be revived and reimagined by the guy who made Alias
    8) A Superhero movie became one of the highest grossing films of all time (proof that in the right hands, anything can be Oscar Worthy - Eat it, Jim Cameron!)
    9) They've made movies of two of my favorite cartoons growing up (who would've thought we'd see that day that Optimus Prime and Megatron would duke it out on the bigscreen)
    10) Marvel is not only a comic book publishing house but a movie studio with 2 hits under their belt and several more down the pipeline.

A lot has happened in a short time, and a lot more will and did.  God has blessed me and watched over me and my family bringing us through so much and will continue to do so.  Thank You Almighty Father!

Warner Bros. Announce "The Dark Knight"

Check back next week for my Vegas experience but for now...

BURBANK, CA, 31 July 2006 - As a follow up to last year's blockbuster Batman Begins, Christopher Nolan is set to direct Warner Bros. Pictures' The Dark Knight, written by Jonathan Nolan, based on a story by Christopher Nolan and David Goyer. The film will be produced by Emma Thomas, Charles Roven and Christopher Nolan. Additionally, Christian Bale will resume his role as Bruce Wayne and Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger has been cast as The Joker. The announcements were made today by Jeff Robinov, President of Production, Warner Bros. Pictures.

Christopher Nolan revamped the Batman franchise in 2005 with the immensely successful Batman Begins, starring Christian Bale in the title role, which chronicled the early years of the superhero. Nolan first garnered attention from critics and fans in 2000 with the groundbreaking drama Memento, which he wrote and directed. He went on to direct the thriller Insomnia, starring Al Pacino and Robin Williams, and recently wrapped production on The Prestige, with Hugh Jackman and Bale.

Bale was most recently seen in the ensemble cast of Terrence Malick's The New World. His other credits include Little Women, Portrait of a Lady, Metroland, American Psycho, Laurel Canyon and Steven Spielberg's Empire of the Sun, which was his first starring role.

Ledger most recently earned Oscar Golden Globe, BAFTA and SAG Award nominations and won the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Ennis Del Mar in the award-winning drama Brokeback Mountain. His other credits include Casanova, Monster's Ball, Lords of Dogtown, The Brothers Grimm and The Patriot.

"Chris' unique vision is what made Batman Begins such an outstanding film and we could not imagine anyone else at the helm of The Dark Knight," said Robinov. "We also can't wait to see two such formidable actors as Christian and Heath face off with each other as Batman and The Joker."

"I'm excited to continue the story we started with Batman Begins," added Nolan. "Our challenge in casting The Joker was to find an actor who is not just extraordinarily talented but fearless. Watching Heath Ledger's interpretation of this iconic character taking on Christian Bale's Batman is going to be incredible."

Production is set to begin on The Dark Knight in early 2007.

    VeggieTales Hits the Big Screen
Universal Pictures to Release Worldwide an All-New Animated VeggieTales Feature Film

Hoist the mainstay! Trim the Sails! Paint the poop deck!?! -- it's BIG time for Bob and Larry! Coming to a theater near you in early 2008, a boatload of VeggieTales stars along with Universal Pictures is proud to present The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything -- A VeggieTales Movie.

Directed by Mike Nawrocki and based on a script written by Phil Vischer, The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything is a comedic adventure filled with family-friendly lessons on the importance of doing what is right, even when it's difficult and discovering that real heroes don't have to be tall, strong, handsome … or even human.

The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything opens in modern day suburbia at the local pirate themed restaurant, where derring-do and turkey legs go hand-in-hand five nights a week. But not for Sedgewick, Elliot and George (Mr. Lunt, Larry the Cucumber and Pa Grape).

While they love all things piratical and dream of taking the stage in the big show, Elliot's timidity, Sedgewick's laziness and George's lack of self-confidence relegate them to busing tables and refilling drinks.

When they finally do get up the courage to audition, the three would-be swashbucklers manage to destroy half the stage set. Out of luck and out of work, they stand dejectedly outside the restaurant as a strange, ancient-looking metal ball lands at their feet. It is a "Helpseeker" sent from another time and place in search of heroes. After scanning the three moping misfits, it sets in motion events that will send them back to the 17th century to face real pirates in a real pirate adventure, and in the process challenge everything they believe about themselves.

Pirates is the second feature film from the cast of Veggies following the highly successful 2002 release of Jonah -- A VeggieTales Movie.
